Greenpeace wanted to remind people that many of our favorite online platforms and services power their data centers with dirty energy, and to encourage these companies to make the switch to clean, renewable energy. We set out to create a campaign that was positive in tone and entertaining, yet informative in its messaging. After all, we all use and love the Internet, even the folks at Greenpeace. This approach led us to enlist Reggie Watts for a series of online videos that promoted the virtues of a greener Internet.
Reggie’s unique brand of humor, strong online following and ability to disarm and engage an audience made him the perfect spokesperson for our Click Clean campaign. Supporting the online videos are social media posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, which promote the Click Clean hashtag and drive to a petition on our campaign website – ClickClean.org - for people to sign in support of a greener Internet.
